Clickbaits attract the attention of
Internet users every day. They often simulate scandalous content and actual
sensations. On the occasion of the opening of an exhibition opening in the
Kassel Regional Council in 2017, Schomburg cast his her own bait in 2017 and
invited to a blowjob performance. The present representatives of the press who
were present had followed her announcement curiously at first and finally found
the artist blowing up a large-format floating animal. The motif of Tthe bathing
island, is formed as a unicorn.,This combines the self-portrayal of young women
distinguishing themselves as attractive and adventurous at the side of a toy
ion the iInternet, who distinguish themselves as attractive and adventurous on
the side of the toy, with significantly older mythologies. In the fantasy
narrative "The Last Unicorn,", for example, a female robber living
alone among men in the wilderness encounters the magical animal and negotiates
purity ideas of female purity and sexuality at its side.

Every year on the tour of the University of
Kassel, the staff of the Kassel Regional Council selects their favourites for
the "Interventions", an art exhibition in the corridors of their
building. For Documenta 2017, this principlethe concept was changed and the
exhibition space was given to an outstanding alumni of the University of
Kassel. Ann Schomburg decided to pass on 'her' exhibition space to her
colleagues in a collective gesture. They She combined their her work with works
by 14 other artists. Schomburg thus commented not only on the pressure of the
competition, but also on the political and-strategic calculation of such
patronizing exhibition invitations. With Aanother detail of the wall
installation, the artist intensified this the artist’s criticism: in a jovial
gesture, Schomburg set a monument to the group exhibition’s the
underrepresented male artists underrepresented in the group exhibition with by
adding individual, empty picture frames made of adhesive tape. The reaction of
the organizer, who soon intervened in the selection of works, is a relevant
part of the work and has become a part offlowed into its documentation.

A two paged poster edition. Double paged. 50 officially sided by Ann Schomburg and 50 officially sided by Sascha Boldt. Beside these authorised fronts, both editions keep the collaborating artwork on the backside, clearly indicated that the other work looses its art status, as it is stepping back to be an irrelevant backside. It is indicated by a line crossing out the wrong piece and an edition sticker by the specific artist of the front side.

Games with Frontiers A two-day symposium organised by the artist Philip Kojo Metz in English
On 29 and 30 October, diverse perspectives surrounding Philip Kojo Metz’s project, The Mimicry Games, will be offered and its broader themes addressed by an interdisciplinary series of presenters including Ann Schomburg, Stefanie Sylla, Ismal Duá, Monika Kalinauskaitė, Sascha Boldt and Zeina Idris.
Taking football as the medium – within the context of the UEFA European Championship – The Mimicry Games approaches the history of European colonization of Africa by forming a visual and physical connection between the sport and this history. Shifting the location of the European Cup to its colonial counterpart on the African continent, the project places African football players in competition against each other, while uniformed in the national team jerseys of their former colonizers. As the 2016 European Cup was held in France, The Mimicry Games were carried out in Senegal, a former French colony, and were internationally and intercontinentally broadcasted and discussed in a series of public viewings and studio talks. Through this widely accessible game that establishes connections on an international scale, the work addresses notions of national identity, processes of cultural exchange, mimesis and the remnants of a colonial past.
Contributions on the first day of the symposium will consider the relationships and interactions between the African and European continents. On the second day, the presentations will expand the scope of the topic, examining possible parallels in other cultures and continents.

Join us for the second production in Decad's new storefront.
'Community-Based' presents a series of long-term, socially-engaged projects realised by artists and other cultural workers, specifically located in Berlin. At the opening, the work of six collectives will be presented, and over the course of the following ten weeks, artists and works will progressively be added. A corresponding lecture programme will ensue. In keeping with the exhibition's title, this ongoing collection of materials will rely on community-based research in a move to supplement the already published and well-known works in this genre of community-based art production. At the end of the exhibition's run, all materials will be added to Decad's growing archive on the social place of art.
Immediately prior to the opening reception, the artist Mathilde ter Heijne will speak on her work in Decad's Hinterhaus lecture space. Ter Heijne is one of the primary six artists to be included in 'Community-Based'. Her artist talk will begin at 18:00. The reception is scheduled to run from 19:00 to 22:00

Ann Schomburg (GERMANY) is a Berlin-based artist whose origins started in parliamentary politics, but she decided to switch her career to fine arts, to formulate observations of society in an artistic expression using the real life experience. She uses her own person as an example of real life, where art and life are in a symbiotic relationship. The consistent comparison of the various reactions to the “reality performance” and her art are a relevant focus of research. Schomburg’s interest is to undermine ways using a very own system of logic to reinterpret settled systems.
