Discussion: »Inside/Outside DKB«

As part of the current exhibition "D like German?", the artist Ann Schomburg, Philip Kojo Metz, curator of the exhibition and board member of the German Artists' Association, and Albert Weis, also a board member of the German Artists' Association, will engage in a discussion. Following the discussion, the audio artist Armin Keplinger will present his performance titled "Random Access Memory."

Based on the self-perception of the German Artists' Association, the discussion "Inside/Outside DKB" aims to explore the societal relevance of artistic work. It will illuminate both the organization's position as a cultural and political institution and the role of artists within Society. Several questions are at the forefront: What is the current state of our relationship with Society? What can associations, organizations, and individual artists contribute to making Society more diverse, inclusive, fair, sustainable, and livable? Do we need an increased artistic engagement in light of current crises and conflicts? What role do institutions and exhibition spaces play in this regard? Are new formats necessary in the struggle to preserve artistic freedom? And what is the current status of Society's appreciation for artistic achievement?

One of the starting points for the discussion is the introduction of the newly established "Art and Society" working group by Albert Weis, which plans a symposium on this topic in 2024. Another starting point is the current exhibition "D like German?" by the German Artists' Association, which addresses sociopolitical themes such as origin and belonging. Philip Kojo Metz will introduce the exhibition's concept, starting from her artistic work; Ann Schomburg will introduce her way of dealing with contemporary Society.
Lara-Sophie Milagro will moderate the evening.

Faye Goldsmith (GREAT BRITAIN) is an academic, food blogger and activist who has a focus on refugee and feminist issues. She's setting up a project to tackle sexual violence in Berlin.

Richard Garbutt (GREAT BRITAIN) is a technologist, writer and comdian. He's currently trying to overturn Brexit one poem at a time and invent an ethical version of Facebook.

Fridey Mickel (USA) is a writer who has been fascinated with political ethics since the age of nine. At 20, she supported UN diplomats in setting up and running various NGOs and political campaigns. With her „Context is Half the Work“ column at the TAZ, she uses interviews with celebrities and other personalities to examine everyday ethics and the moral dance between personal intuition and status quo.

Ann Schomburg (GERMANY) is a Berlin-based artist whose origins started in parliamentary politics, but she decided to switch her career to fine arts, to formulate observations of society in an artistic expression using the real life experience. She uses her own person as an example of real life, where art and life are in a symbiotic relationship. The consistent comparison of the various reactions to the “reality performance” and her art are a relevant focus of research. Schomburg’s interest is to undermine ways using a very own system of logic to reinterpret settled systems.

Rachman Blake (USA) is a New York City storyteller, filmmaker, and world traveler. He's performed in five languages, 15 countries, and at comedy festivals all over the globe. Watch bite-sized behind the scenes films of Rachman's journey on Facebook or Instagram. Http://www.facebook.com/rachmanblakelive Http://Instagram.com/rachmanblake

12 lovers photo/sound installation, installing, detours and arrival

With the globalization and the increase in flexibility we rush all the time and finally realize how everything is all over the world when a delivery accidently ends up 1000 km away from where you need it. Time to slow down 10 percent and make sure that all the deliveries go where they belong, the opening is too close for such detours.

After taking the image in a Mc Donald's in Hangzhou China, the delivery of the production ended up in Tours, France was taken to Roubaix, France, where i picked it up and took it to my studio, in Germany where i did a pre-installation.

From connections- theories- and and and

crawling to structure, structure ...

Understanding every single individual as the collaboration of direct and indirect experience under the influence of chemicals I am interested into the question of identity. An identity that includes the subject level of an individual as well as the Identity growing out of accumulation of subjects into a society.
