Das Fotografieprojekt »The Idling Boys« verwebt Fragen des fortwährenden Geschlechterkampfes mit einer radikalen, patriachal konnotierten Geste. Die Protagonisten der Bilderserie sind Liebhaber und Partner der Vergangenheit. Im Hotelbett, auf der Parkbank und an weiteren Orten bemalt die Künstlerin Männerkörper mithilfe des Inhalts eines klassischen Beautycase. Es folgen ein Schnappschuss mit dem Handy und der unerwartete Abschied. Auf den Männerkörpern entstehen ‚idle paintings’, Malereien, die aus einem unterbewussten Impuls der Künstlerin entstehen. Die resultierenden Fotografien sind Leftovers vergangener Beziehungen und Relikte eines performativen Aktes, welcher mit dem Verkauf der Arbeiten eine weitere Dimension annimmt. Denn der kommerzielle Verkauf der »Idling Boys« betont nicht nur die Objekthaftigkeit der fotografierten Modelle. Er vollzieht den kontrollierten Ausverkauf biografischer Mythen der Künstlerin.

The photographichy project "The Idling Boys" interweaves questions of the ongoing gender struggle with a radical, patriarchally connoted gesture. The protagonists of the picture series are past lovers and ex partners of the past. In the a hotel bed, on the a park bench and in other places, the artist paints male bodies with the help of the content of a classic beauty case. Künstlerischer Erfolg ist bisweilen keine Frage des herausragenden Talents. Vor allem ist es das Spielfeld des Kunstmarktes, welcher durch teils zufällige oder völlig kunstferne Anreize über die Wichtigkeit und Wertigkeit von Kunst bestimmt. Der Spielautomat »Watchgrabber« stellt diese Asymmetrie aus – und schafft selbst Frustration und Begehren. Kleinformatige Zeichnungen der Künstlerin, welche zunächst keine Verkäufe auf einer Kunstmesse erzielt hatten, sind nun per Münzeinwurf in einem umfunktionierten Greifautomaten zu erwerben. Dabei ist diesind Treffsicherheit und Erfolgschance des Automaten genauso unzuverlässig wie auf einem Jahrmarkt. In einer späteren Variante der Arbeit nimmt der Automat die Werke mehrerer Künstlerinnen und Künstler auf. Während der Bedienung des Automaten können Ausstellungbesucher nicht nur ihr Glück für denbeim Gewinn eines Kunstwerkes versuchen, sondern auch die Ausstellungssituation der Arbeiten im Spielautomaten verändern.
